Irish silicon could tempt Miss World to Leixlip

STRANGELY it may be of some interest to the IDA that the organisers of the Miss World contest are seeking a host country to stage next year's highly politically incorrect glamour pageant. First held in 1951, the contest outgrew its welcome in the UK and US and for the past four years has been held in Sun City, South Africa. This year the beautiful people assemble at Bangalore in southern India in a souring atmosphere, with pressure groups planning violent protests, including suicide by self immolation. The state government had hoped that publicity would draw more foreign investors to the area which is known as India's Silicon Valley.

With the political temperature rising in steamy Bangalore, why not entertain next year's bevy of beauties in Leixlip, set amid the cool, green grass lands of Ireland's Silicon Valley? With silicon and female beauty going together like bacon and eggs, and Intel on hand to process the welter of vital statistics, success is guaranteed. And there is only an outside chance of self immolation by local villagers. If lobbying for a slice of the action in the Tour de France is seen as beneficial to the economy why not the Miss World contest? Expect a prompt IDA initiative!
