A MEETING between Irish Life management and the MSF union representing sales staff was adjourned yesterday with no date set for another meeting. The sides appeared to be found little common ground at the three hour meeting.

Irish Life wants the workers to return to work accepting new practices recommended by the Labour Court and suggested that other issues could then be discussed within a defined period of four to six weeks. The union wanted the suspensions imposed on 320 MSF members to be lifted and discussions on the issues involved. The meeting was adjourned to allow both sides to report back and to consider how progress could be made.

Some 320 MSF members were suspended last week for refusing to co operate with the implementation of a Labour Court recommendation on changes in work practices.
