Some good news for those burdened with high insurance costs for their motorbikes, mopeds or scooters.

Some good news for those burdened with high insurance costs for their motorbikes, mopeds or scooters.

Broker AON McDonagh Boland has announced a new Bike Care policy - underwritten by Norwich Union - which it claims will be 1012.5 per cent cheaper than existing policies for new motorcycles on the market and will be available at selected dealers from July 1st.

"The policy will offer lower premiums and hopefully reduce the phenomenal number of thefts and the trade of stolen motorcycle parts," says Mr Ray Fox, development manager at AON. It includes a new microscopic security tagging system for motorcycles which involves the spraying of dots - which can be tracked by the Garda - onto vehicles. The microdots have their own unique PIN number and can be sprayed on all parts of the bike making it extremely difficult for thieves to remove each one to prevent identification.
