The need for a new business approach:

The challenges in the new economy are to create new forms of value and that requires a different business approach to the one that is creating value from exploiting or manipulating or pulling into shape old values.

The State's coming of age:

This is potentially one of the greatest times that Ireland could ever hope for. All of our disadvantages, our peripherality, our lack of natural resources are not as prevalent in the new economic equation.

Inaction at management level:

Irish senior management have not bought into the Internet that I am aware of.

The online battle:

There is a battle on to see who is going to get the eyeballs, who is going to get the mind space of the consumer. It is no good having a great Website if nobody visits it.

From there to here:

The first thing I learnt to drive was an ass and cart. There were no computers in our house.
