Goodbody Stockbrokers has appointed Mr Adrian Neville as its new head of IT. Mr Neville has extensive experience in business integration, large system design and project management.
He joins the company from Andersen Consulting where he worked on major IT projects primarily in the financial sector.
Among Mr Neville's responsibilities will be to oversee the support section of Goodbodys, which encompasses the on-screen information that most employees use. Mr Neville will also be responsible for IT development.
The company is adapting its systems to prepare for 2000 and the arrival of the euro.
Marlborough Recruitment, has appointed Mr Joe Kearns as its new finance director.
Mr Kearns, who takes up his position with immediate effect, has worked in financial management in both the public and private sector.
He joins the company from Bord na Mona, where he held the post of head of finance and administration and planning in the company's horticulture division.
He has previously worked as group treasury controller with Grand Metropolitan and has held senior management positions during his career with Lawson Mardon Group and Foir Teoranta.
Qualceram, the publicly quoted manufacturer of bathroom suites, has appointed Mr David Swords to the board of directors as commercial director.
Mr Aidan Clince, a chartered accountant with the group since 1995, will be taking over from Mr Swords as company secretary.
The former chief executive of the Irish Trade Board, Mr Alan McCarthy, has been appointed non-executive chairman of National Self Storage, the holding company for National Document Storage, Abbey File Stores and Shreddit.
The Republic's largest contract caterer, Sutcliffe Catering Services, has appointed Ms Bette Brazil as general manager, sales. Ms Brazil previously worked as area manager in Dublin.
The company now employs 1,200 people throughout the Republic and Ms Brazil's role will be to expand its business further.
The Minister for Agriculture and Food has appointed several people to the Irish Horseracing Authority. Among the most notable is trainer, Mr Dermot Weld, who trains in the Curragh, Co Kildare.

Cultor Food Science, the US developer and marketer of food ingredients, has appointed Dublin man, Dr Joe Dunne, as company president.
Previously, Dr Dunne was president of Quest International, north America, where his responsibilities included all flavour and food ingredients business throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Dr Dunne received his PhD in biochemistry from UCD and is a former technical director at Biocon Ltd in Cork.
Mr Peter Igoe has been appointed a recruitment consultant by Contract People, the sales and merchandising contract recruitment specialists. Mr Igoe previously worked in the food and drinks sectors.
