Glencar Mining has reported production of almost 15,000 ounces of gold to the end of April from its mine at Wassa in Ghana, generating revenue of almost $5 million (€4.6 million).

Addressing the company's annual general meeting in Dublin yesterday, chairman Mr Richard Hopper said approximately 1.1 million tonnes of ore had been mined to date. Production was now nearing the target level of 11,000 ounces per month. Mr Hopper said operating costs were higher than anticipated but are expected to reduce over the year.
