You've been very brave, really. All your colleagues especially those brash types in sales and marketing lope about with one of those little personal organiser things in one pocket, and a mobile phone in the other. But you've held out. Why carry two lumps of metal and wires? Sure, you can download the newspaper onto a PDA, but then you have to squint at that awful green screen - you just buy the damn newspaper!
But now, finally, you start to waver. The latest version of Nokia's Communicator acts just like a phone, but also opens up and becomes a little computer, with its own keyboard.
It's in colour, bright colour. It can run Word and Excel and Lotus documents, you can use it to give a slideshow to a conference. It will use the same contacts organiser as your PC, you can send and receive e-mails, and e-mail attachments, and faxes.
At 244 grammes it's a bit heavy, and it doesn't have an MP3 player, and the internet browser goes only as fast as your connection but deep down you know this could be your Rubicon.
The Nokia Communicator 9210, costs around £600 sterling (€990) without a connection, is available at mobile phone dealers from this weekend.
