The need to keep a wide mix of industry in Galway in order to avoid a "Digital type catastrophe" is expected to be highlighted in report which aims to provide an integrated plan for the city over the next five years.
"Galway 2002 - A Shared Vision" aims for a thriving city with clean industries, a busy airport, big spend tourists, and streets free of traffic congestion within that time scale.
The report will be launched by the Galway Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday. It advocates the active support of canvassing the clean industries for the city such as medi-care, computer-electronics, software and tele-sales. A major push to help the indigenous supply industries to the bigger companies is also called for, as well as a campaign to secure the so called "brain power" companies such as specialist software groups.
