Comments from policymakers at the weekend's Group of Seven meeting in Deauville will provide the mood music for financial markets this week as investors ponder how quickly the global economy will get back on track.

In a thin week for economic data in both the United States and the euro zone, a speech by Federal Reserve chairman Mr Alan Greenspan will also top the agenda. Mr Greenspan will testify on the outlook for the US economy before the congressional Joint Economic Committee on Wednesday.

Closer to home, there will be a clutch of results and annual general meetings featuring second-liners. Most interest will focus on Glanbia's a.g.m. tomorrow for news of developments, if any, in its row with Dunnes Stores, which has seen its milk being frozen out.
