Talks will take place this morning to resolve disputes at the Educational Building Society over compensation for extra work involved in the euro conversion next month. The dispute was referred to the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) by MSF after one meeting at local level. At the weekend, MSF indicated it would take industrial action, if necessary, over the claim but the union's assistant national secretary Mr Jerry Shanahan acknowledged yesterday that the company had acted within procedures and was optimistic that the dispute could be resolved.

Talks are also due to take place at the LRC over a similar claim by MSF, SIPTU and the ATGWU against the Irish Permanent TSB. Unions at both companies are seeking packages similar to that recommended by independent tribunals for staff at the associated banks.
