Difficult year for fashion

FASHION group French Connection today warned that annual profits to the end of January will be about £3.4 million sterling, less than half the £6.9 million earnings it enjoyed in the previous year.

"This reflects difficult trading conditions, particularly in the US and the fact that turnover did not reach expected levels, although gross profit margins held up well," the company said.
