Some 150 Kerry people received their European Computer Driving Licences this week as part of an initiative developed by the Computer Societies of Europe.

Over the last year, more than 400 adults have been acquiring basic computer skills under the scheme. The courses, which provide a comprehensive introduction to computers and their application to home and office usage, were organised by Kerry Education Service, part of the Co Kerry Vocational Education Committee.

This is the largest single group to be conferred to date, and according to Kerry VEC, it is an indication of the huge interest in computers throughout the county following Killarney's position as a runner up in last year's Information Age Town competition.
