Thousands of investors have filed lawsuits against Compaq, alleging the US computer maker reacted slowly to inform them of a weakened sales demand while company directors quickly sold some of their stock.

The complaint was brought on by a group of investors and covers all people who bought Compaq stock between January 27th and February 25th of this year.

The Compaq officials are also accused of selling off their stock before telling analysts on February 25th that sales would be lower than expected in the first quarter. Eleven Compaq officials sold off more than one million shares of stock valued at $45 million (#41.5 million) between Febrary 1st and February 25th, according to the Wall Street Journal.
