ONE of India’s largest educational institutions, the Rayat Bahra Group, is to set up a new third and fourth level college at Portobello in Dublin 2.
The group has leased Harbour House, a purpose built third level educational block on the Grand Canal which was previously occupied by Portobello College.
Portobello was bought over a year ago by the Dublin Business School and relocated to South Great George’s Street.
Rayat has taken a 10-year lease with a five year break option of Harbour House which has a floor area of 1,193sq m (12,850sq ft).
Rayat opened a college in Lndon in 2003 where it offers third and fourth levels undergraduate and postraduate courses. Michael Conran of agent Knight Frank said Rayat looked at all the available educational properties in Dublin city and the suburbs before settling for Harbour House because of its design and layout and its close proximity to the city centre.
Emma Murphy of chartered surveyors HWBC, who advised the owners of Harbour House, said Portobello’s long association with education meant that they were able to offer a “ready to go” solution to the Indian group.
