BT engineers strike threat

BT engineers in London are to stage a one day strike after voting heavily for industrial action in a dispute over the use of contract labour, it was announced yesterday. Members of the Communication Workers Union voted by 1,202 to 268 in favour of action, which will start with a 24-hour walkout on August 12th.

Mr Mick Sullivan, chairman of the union's London coordinating committee said: "BT say it is good to talk, but it is time they listened to what their employees are saying."
