A BELFAST bakery has announced an investment of almost £1 million sterling to increase productivity and develop its sales in the Republic. Allied Bakeries (Northern Ireland), a subsidiary of Associated British Foods, is investing £950,000 in automated machinery which will enable the company double its production of burger and other rolls.

With the additional production and a new marketing strategy, Allied Bakeries plans to increase its sales of rolls in the Republic. The Industrial Development Board in the North is providing £143,000 towards the cost of the project.
