An £18 million project to develop a new arts facility in the heart of Belfast will generate more than 400 new jobs.

An £18 million project to develop a new arts facility in the heart of Belfast will generate more than 400 new jobs.

The Northern Ireland Arts Minister Nelson McCausland yesterday confirmed details of the new six-storey arts facility that will be built in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter. The Minister also disclosed that the new Metropolitan Arts Centre, which will be known as Mac, will receive financial support from the North’s Executive totalling £10.76 million. “The construction . . . will create jobs at a time of recession . . . the new Mac will further put us on the map as a location rich in cultural heritage and creative spirit,” the Minister said.
