B of I deputy governor joins Elan board

The deputy governor of the Bank of Ireland, Mr Laurence Crowley has been appointed to the board of Elan Corporation

The deputy governor of the Bank of Ireland, Mr Laurence Crowley has been appointed to the board of Elan Corporation. Elan has also announced two other appointments to the board, including that of Dr Alan Gillespie, who is a partner in and head of UK and Ireland investment banking at Goldman Sachs in London.

Enterprise Oil doubles profits

The British company Enterprise Oil, which has extensive interests in Ireland, made £201.2 million sterling before tax last year. The figure is more than double the £93.9 million profit for 1994.

Enterprise chairman Mr Graham Hearne said the company had moved forward into 1996 with confidence, but this was tinged with some caution. "Our caution stems from the possibility that oil prices may weaken as the year progresses," he said.
