A website specialising in online recruitment has been named Irish Business Website of the Year. Jobfinder

A website specialising in online recruitment has been named Irish Business Website of the Year. Jobfinder.ie is part of the Scope Communications group and is promoted through its host site, InfoLive.ie. It was one of six finalists chosen out of 400 entrants for the second annual Web awards sponsored by Digital, Kompass and the Sunday Business Post.

Jobfinder was introduced in November 1996 to provide recruiters and jobseekers with an online contact point. Revenues are generated from recruitment agency and company advertising, while the service is free to the jobseeker. It has more than 23,000 live user accounts and 2,300 vacancies are currently being advertised. It was specifically designed as a more responsive resource for recruiters and jobseekers in the IT, sales, marketing, engineering and technical sectors. The award came with £5,000 worth of technical equipment from Digital Equipment Ireland.

The five other finalists were The Irish Times, a finalist for the second year running, The Irish Emigrant, Equinox Computer Graphics, Motor WEB and E-Search.
