IRISH COMPANIES have won contracts worth more than €200 million relating to the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O’Keeffe has said.

The contracts cover a range of sectors, from construction and architecture to electronics, software and renewable energy, with companies such as contractors John Sisk Son and P Elliott signing up.

The announcement yesterday came as a senior delegation from the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) visited Dublin.

Mr O’Keeffe called on other Irish companies to take advantage of the opportunity and attempt to secure contracts in the next phase of preparation for London 2012. Enterprise Ireland and the ODA are hosting a joint seminar tomorrow for Irish companies.

There are a large number of contracts still to be awarded.

Chief executive of Enterprise Ireland Frank Ryan said: “The Irish successes to date prove that Irish companies can compete against global competitors and win these prestigious and important contracts.”
