TOP jump jockey Francis Woods faces a long stretch on the sidelines while recovering from injuries sustained in a serious car crash on Friday morning.

Arthur Moore's stable rider has a fractured wrist, a broken collar bone and fractures to vertebrae and ribs and is recovering from concussion in Dublin's Mater Hospital.

"The Mater consultants will take further scans but Francis won't ride for the forseeable future, "said Turf Club medical officer Dr Walter Halley yesterday.

Woods's colleague Trevor Horgan, injured at the Punchestown festival, will leave hospital on Thursday and continue his treatment at home.
