Local hero Mark Williams was crowned Welsh Open champion for a second time in Cardiff last night.

In a memorable final world number five Williams clinched a nerve-wracking 9-8 win over stable-mate Stephen Hendry.

The match did not go down to a re-spotted black finish as it had done when the pair met in last season's Masters final at Wembley, although this time it was sorted out only on the last pink.
