Usually when you're banjaxed in what ever sport it is you do, you take up golf. Right? But Joe Calzaghe's golf clubs have been stored away in the loft until his boxing days are over. The WBO super-middleweight champion has been advised not to drive the fairways because it was dangerous for his boxing career.

Calzaghe, who plays off a 19 handicap, said: "I only played golf for about two years. I was going straight to the golf course after training, and I had problems with my elbows. I was advised by a specialist to give up and my elbow has improved.

"I went to see various specialists and had a course of injections and therapy. It was mainly my right elbow, but I started to get a bit of pain in my left as well.

"I've given up playing and it's improved, and I don't get a problem with it now. I don't think I've got the temperament or patience to play golf seriously." Would sure love to see that swing.
