GAA: NHL DIVISION TWO:  Carlow 2-15 Westmeath 1-14WESTMEATH'S RELEGATION from Division Two was confirmed at Dr Cullen Park on Saturday as Kevin Martin's men suffered a sixth successive defeat.

The sides were level at the break on 0-8 but the game turned Carlow’s way when a brace of long-range points from play by midfielder Jack Kavanagh, supplemented by another from substitute Andrew Gaule sent Carlow three points clear, 0-12 to 0-9.

Carlow goals on 49 minutes from Eddie Byrne and 59 minutes by Eoin Nolan sealed the home win, despite Ronan Whelan’s goal for Westmeath on 52 minutes.
