SCHOOLS' RUGBY: Wesley  College  qualified for the semi-finals of the Leinster Schools (Vinnie Murray) Senior Cup, Section C, thanks largely to a power-house second-half performance at Lakelands Park yesterday.

The winners had to concentrate on defence for much of the first half as they won the toss and opted to play into a stiff breeze.

Skerries found it tough going against Wesley's discipline and organisation. That said, fullback Owen Keane struck to level the match at the break.

It took a clever piece of running from Wesley scrumhalf Jonathan Power to unlock the losers defence. His half-back partner Alan Large converted for a 10-3 lead.

Then, centre Gary Notley produced a smart show of the ball and then veered in between two defenders to sprint over under the posts.
