TOM WATSON (46) ended a nine year PGA Tour victory drought yesterday when he shot a two under par 70 in the final round for a two stroke triumph over David Duval at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

The five time British Open champion had not won a PGA event since the 1987 Nabisco Championship. It was his 41st career title and 33rd on the tour. "I was very fortunate," Watson said.

Duval birdied the 18th hole to keep some pressure on Watson, who answered with a birdie of his own on the final hole.

After sending his final approach stroke near the cup, Watson said, "I just wanted to run over and two putt it right then."
