Waterford tie a family affair

Family rivalry will add an interesting aside in the WIT gym on Saturday night where Waterford Crystal's first home game of the season against Denny Notre Dame pitches brothers Damien and Darren Sealy against each other.

Damien, who plays for Notre Dame, returns to his home town where younger brother Darren is quickly making a name for himself in his first season in the Super League, scoring 13 points last week, including three three-pointers against Kerry Spring Killarney. Waterford finally snatched the match in overtime with MVP Roscoe Patterson snatching the final points.

One of the surprise new talents on the Notre Dame bench this season is 17-year-old Ciaran Dempsey from Newbridge. Dempsey is still at school but has already impressed in the competition.

Karl Donnelly will probably have a torrid weekend when he lines out for his club Na Fianna against Kilmacud Crokes in the Senior Dublin Club Championships on Saturday before taking his place with Marlborough Saints on Sunday as they look for their first win of the season against Sligo.

Stephen McGuirk is injured but Dave Donnelly is back for the Saints while all eyes will focus on Sligo's new American Mitch Henderson, who scored 34 points of his team's 62-points total last week.

Neptune will look for their second win of the season against Dungannon with the help of 22-year-old Canadian Nick Chatzinikolis, who arrived this week. Chatzinikolis is expected to make his debut on Sunday.

Kerry Spring Killarney travel to Killester in search of their first win. Again Kerry will look to Ricardo Leonard who contributed 38 points last week as the side will have to do without Vince Daly who expects to be out for the next two games with a knee injury. Killester's Joe Warnke will also sit it out while he recovers from a pre-season broken nose.

Blue Demons should know how Karl Donnelly's legs feel as they line out twice over the weekend, firstly at home to Dungannon and then away to Tolka Rovers. American Sean Scott has arrived for Tolka and will make his debut on Sunday.

Two women's matches in the Super League pitch Killester against Snowcream Wildcats and Tolka Rovers against Meteors. Killester will naturally hope to break Wildcats 23-game winning streak, with the other Dublin derby expected to produce the usual hard-fought game.

It is a new-look Killester with several additions including coach Pat McKenna.
