IRELAND'S Peter Hutton was sent off for foul and abusive language as the US Olympic team warmed up for Atlanta in style.
With the Georgia temperature in the 90s, the hosts were just too lively for their wilting guests.
Frankie Hejduk netted twice and there were goals for Nelson Vargas and A. J. Wood.
Hutton was shown the red card in the 23rd minute and the US team's Miles Joseph followed him midway through the first half.
The Irish, who did not qualify for the Olympics, got on the score sheet with 10 minutes to go through Brian Byrue.
Coach Tom Connolly said "the heat was a factor. "It was pretty hot out there and we're not used to it," he said. "They were also bigger and stronger than us, but we expected that."
