A GOLDEN GOAL' in sudden-death extra time by Alvaro Perea thrust Uruguay into the final against Argentina. Perea's 104th minute strike gave Uruguay a 3-2 win over Ghana.
Saturday's final at the Shah Alam stadium will see Uruguay trying to repeat their victory over Argentina in the South American youth championship.
"We (Uruguay and Argentina) know each other well, we have played each other before. It will be a good game, but just because we have beaten them before, it doesn't mean that we are going to win the final," Uruguayan coach Victory Pua said.
Uruguay had to battle against Ghana, who fought back from 2-0 down to draw level with 12 minutes left to take the game into sudden death extra time.
Marcelo Zalayeta gave Uruguay a 12th minute lead and Walter Coelho Alves increased the advantage in the 44th minute. Ghana's Ordartey Lawson replied seconds after Alves' goal to cut the deficit, and in the 78th minute Uruguayan defender Alejandro Melona Botta deflected a Ghana cross into his own net.
However, Botta atoned when he floated in a free kick for Perea to score the winner.
