The final farewell for outgoing Bohemians manager, Turlough O'Connor said much about the hosts' season, which saw good possession wasted with some poor finishing as Bohemians wrapped up a disappointing league campaign with a facile win.
UCD have only themselves to blame for this defeat which now sees them in the rather unenviable position of having to play Limerick in a two-legged play-off for a spot in the Premier Division.
A draw would have suited the students but they did the unthinkable with just three minutes gone when Graham Lawlor netted from close in for Bohemians.
Aidan Lynch then seemed to have retrieved the situation when converting following a goalmouth scramble but it was to no avail with the referee disallowing the UCD captain's effort.
And a defensive lapse by the usually reliable Terry Palmer then saw Lawlor pounce for his second with Swan's ball across to him giving the striker, the perfect angle to bury a low shot past Seamus Kelly on 69 minutes.
The score might have been more but for one incredible miss by Tony O'Connor as Lawlor denied himself the chance of a hat-trick when squaring to the midfielder.
