THE SECOND evening of the Killarney festival gets an unexpected bonus with an appearance by the high-class filly Tuscan Evening in the concluding maiden.

John Murphy's 111-rated horse has still to win a race after 10 attempts, but she has mixed it with some of the star names of Europe and it will be a huge shock if she can't pass the post in front tonight.

In May, Tuscan Evening famously passed the Irish 1,000 Guineas post in second behind Halfway To Heaven, only to be demoted to fourth for causing interference - a Turf Club appeal into that demotion will finally be held later this month.

Uncle Junior is an interesting runner in the novice chase and should relish this drop in class.

Pat Smullen travels south for a couple of Dermot Weld-trained runners that can come home in front. Theocritus still looks to be progressing and will be hard to beat in the four-runner conditions race, while Majestic Concorde can successfully warm up for Galway in the mile-and-three-quarter event.
