Bob Treacy's apparent improvement in form when winning the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park last month will be looked at by the appeals and referral committee of the Turf Club next Wednesday after a meeting of the Stewards of INHS Committee on Monday.
On his previous start, the nine-year-old was favourite for the Paddy Power Handicap Chase at Leopardstown at Christmas after finishing a close third to Imperial Call and Dorans Pride at Punchestown earlier in the month, but was pulled up before the last fence when well beaten.
It was the start of the Thyestes which led to another inquiry being held at the Turf Club yesterday. Having heard evidence from the starter, Joe Banahan, and Tape supplier PA Walsh and viewed the video of the race, the stewards were satisfied that a fair start had been effected.
They found that the incident in which Kaselectric became entangled in the starting tape only became apparent after the leaders had passed the advance flagman. However, the stewards ordered that the owner of Kaselectric be reimbursed his entry and riding fees.
The stewards reminded the starter that before starting any race he should be satisfied with the positioning of all starting equipment.
