English First Division strugglers West Bromwich Albion have parted company with manager Brian Little after only seven months in charge at The Hawthorns.

Albion last night issued a statement announcing the departure of Little after the former Aston Villa and Stoke boss held talks with chairman Paul Thompson.

"Our recent form has resulted in us taking just eight points from the last 15 games," said the statement. "The position is unacceptable and has led to the decision we have taken."

Albion have won just one of their last 18 games and dropped into the relegation zone following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Birmingham.

Following that game, Little, who left Stoke last summer, launched an outspoken attack on the way that the club was being run. He was also angry after being verbally abused by a section of home supporters during the game.

John Hartson's agent last night warned Tottenham they would regret calling off the Wimbledon striker's £7 million transfer.

Spurs had agreed a fee and personal terms but pulled out of the deal after discovering a problem with the Welsh international's medical.

But the 24-year-old's agent claimed Spurs had "gone potty" and were being over-cautious. The deal - described as a "dream move" - would have seen Hartson link up again with former Arsenal boss Graham, who signed him for the Gunners from Luton as a teenager for £2.5 million in January 1995.

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association over his alleged abusive gesture towards Aston Villa fans during Sunday's Premiership clash at Villa Park.

Stephen Hughes will complete his Everton medical this morning as the club bank a new two-year £2.5 million sponsorship deal with shirt sponsors One2One.
