SEVERAL of the contenders were exercising on the track yesterday morning in preparation for the £4 million Dubai World Cup at the end of the month.

Danewin, Australia's challenger, did his first piece of work on the turf course at Nad Al Sheba.

The other Dubai World Cup challengers all worked on the sand, with L'Carriere having his first feel of the course when he trotted over 2,000 metres with his rider Maxine Owen.

Lively Mount continues to impress in his preparation for the March 27th event.

Partnered by his regular rider, Toshiro Fujiwara, the Japanese hope trotted over 2,000 metres followed by a canter over 4,000 metres.

European entries Pentire (Dubai World Cup) and Young, Buster (Dubai Duty Free Invitational), who are expected to work this week, enjoyed a 2,000 metre trot and a canter over 1,600 metres.
