Competitors from 14 countries, who are in Bundoran, Co Donegal to take part in the European Surfing Championships, are hoping for a change in the weather to create enough waves to allow the competition to go ahead. The chairman of the organising comittee, Brian Britton, said yesterday that "the long-range forecast shows a band of low pressure on its way across the North Atlantic and the waves should arrive by Wednesday afternoon. Some reorganisation had already been provided for and I am confident the waves will appear soon".
Hopes are rising that the surf would be up by this evening or tomorrow morning at the latest.
