Sunesson, Garcia split

Sergio Garcia and his caddie, Fanny Sunesson, have parted company after only eight events together.

The split came at the Players' Championship where the 20-year-old Spaniard extended a miserable start to the year by missing the halfway cut with rounds of 82 and 72 for a 10-over-par 154.

Garcia enlisted Sunesson, who had carried Nick Faldo's bag for 10 years, after dispensing with the services of American Jerry Higginbotham, who was involved in a barroom brawl after the Ryder Cup last September.

He has now employed South African Glen Murray, who has been caddying for compatriot Reteif Goosen.

Faldo was devastated when she told him she was quitting at a special lunch to celebrate their 10 years together.
