Bray W 0 UCD 6:UCD RECORDED their biggest win of the season with an overwhelming victory over outclassed bottom-of-the-table Bray Wanderers in a totally one-sided encounter at the Carlisle Grounds last night.

The margin of victory for Martin Russell’s team was a true reflection of the students’ dominance. And against all the odds, last year’s First Division champions are now up to fifth place in the table after keeping a clean sheet for the fifth match in a row.

The students looked dangerous when winger Dwayne Wilson fired a low cross over from the right with goalkeeper Brian Kane just grabbing the ball before striker David McMillan could take advantage.

Doyle again threatened with a 25-metre effort pushed away for a corner by Billy Brennan after Ian Tuohy had created the opening on the right.

Bray went close to breaking the deadlock when a Robbie Doyle cross from the right almost created an opening for Jake Kelly. But defender Seán Harding was back just in time the head the ball over his own bar.

College eventually had their noses in front seconds before the interval when Paul Corry robbed Bray substitute Mark O’Brien 30 metres from goal. Chris Mulhall was then able to stab the ball through for David McMillan to clinically finish from close range.

The students then stretched their lead on 48 minutes when a wonderful ball from Corry found David McMillan sprinting down the left. His low cross was fired home by Greg Bolger.

UCD ran rampant in the second half with Bolger grabbing his second goal on 56 minutes with a perfect lob from 22 yards over the advancing Kane after David McMillan had carved open the home defence.

Two minutes later, they stretched their lead further when a Dwayne Wilson effort from a narrow angle saw Kane have the misfortune to push the ball into his own net.

The agony continued for Bray on 67 minutes after a reflex save by Kane from Harding was deflected off the legs of David McMillan into the net.

The McMillan brothers completed the trouncing of Bray when Evan had the simple task of heading home on 74 minutes after a cross by David on the right had eluded the Bray defence.
