DIT 0-16 Westmeath 0-13:A STRONG performance in the second half enabled DIT to qualify for the semi-final of the O'Byrne Shield by virtue of a deserved three-point win over Westmeath in Kinnegad yesterday afternoon.

There was very little between the sides in the first half as the home side led by 0-9 to 0-7.

Dublin under-21 forward Harry Dawson was the best player on show on the change of ends and his two early points had the sides on level terms by the 38th minute.

Offaly’s Bernard Allen soon edged DIT ahead and they always looked the more likely winners from that moment on, as the standard of football and shot selection deteriorated.
