It might be the middle of winter but the star Irish sprinter Sole Power can look forward to a break in the sun next month when he heads to Dubai for a third successive winter carnival. Eddie Lynam’s six-year-old Group One winner was narrowly beaten in the Meydan Sprint in early March and the Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup night last year, and the same two events are on his agenda again.

“There’s not a bother on him. He is only just starting back after a break and he’ll head out to Dubai at the end of February,” said Lynam yesterday. “The plan is to run in him Meydan Sprint on Super Saturday and then hopefully run on World Cup night.”

The Co Meath trainer has a Classic prospect in Viztoria who lost her unbeaten record in a Group Two in France towards the end of last season. “Viztoria has just come back in as well, so it’s early doors for her,” he added.
