Liam Lawrence hoping to earn Barnsley move

Former Irish midfielder training with Championship side with a view to moving from PAOK

Former Republic of Ireland international Liam Lawrence is training with Championship strugglers Barnsley with a view to signing for the club.

The 32-year-old is currently with Greek Super League outfit PAOK but has only featured in twice for them this season.

Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is said to be keen to add experience to his squad as he prepares to battle relegation over the second half of the season and the right sided midfielder could sign over the coming days.

Tim Clancy, meanwhile, is one of four players to have been told to look for another club by Hibernian with Terry Butcher looks to reshape the squad he inheritied from Pat Fenlon.

The 29-year-old Meathman, who has been playing in Scotland since joining Kilmarnock seven years ago, began his Easter Road career well in 2012 but has struggled with injuries of late and has not made a first team appearance this season.

His contract is due to expire in the summer.
