Epsom Derby favourite Saffron Waldon has been given a "cautious" rating of 121 after his impressive success in last weekend's Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.
The handicapper's assessment places the Aidan O'Brien-trained Saffron Waldon alongside the Aga Khan's French Guineas winner, Sandawar, but handicapper Ciaran Kennelly admits that Saffron Waldon may be better than the rating suggests.
"I've probably been a little cautious if you believe that Enrique ran the same race at the Curragh as he did at Newmarket. On that basis, Saffron Waldon could be given a 123. But it was a well-upto-par Irish Guineas," Kennelly said yesterday.
Two of O'Briens other charges, Urban Ocean and Tchaikovsky, are also being spoken of as Epsom Derby possibles. Before that however, he will bid for Derby success with Yeoman's Point in the Italian Derby in Rome next Sunday.
