SAD MAD BAD gave beleaguered Jason Weaver reason to smile when winning at Lingfield yesterday. The jockey, who is banned for 16 days from tomorrow, was seen at his best on the Mark Johnston trained colt in Division Two of the HP Bulmers Maiden Stakes.
The 7 to 2 shot took up the running approaching the final furlong to beat Inclination, the 2 to 1 favourite, and Quest for Best by a length and a head.
Lucky Parkes (7 to 1) gamely stuck her head out after making all in the Wadsworth 6X Conditions Stakes under John Carroll and beat Bowden Rose and Fond Embrace, the 9 to 4 favourite, by a neck and a short head.
Jack Berry's mare, owned by Joseph Heler has now won 17 times from 45 outings and has been in the first three on 34 occasions.
The jockeys' title battle between Pat Eddery and Richard Quinn continued, with Quinn coming out on top on this occasion two to one through a 15 to 1 double with Mischief Star (7 to 1) and Barnum Sands (evens), against Eddery's single winner, Dowry (9 to 4).
The present position of the pair is Eddery leading with 141 winners and Quinn on 127.
