Wales the big draw when it comes to ticket prices for Ireland’s home Six Nations fixtures

Premium level seat to see game against Warren Gatland’s side up to €105

Ireland's Six Nations match against Wales on February 8th next year is proving the most attractive of the three home games of the 2014 Six Nations Championship. Ticket prices for the match have hit €105 for the top premium level seats compared to €80 for both the games against Scotland and Italy.

The IRFU have said that demand for tickets has increased since the match last Sunday against the All Blacks in Aviva, presumably as fans see an Irish side that could be again successful .

Prices range from category four tickets which are €30 for the games against Scotland on February 2nd and Italy on March 8th and €40 for the return of Warren Gatland’s side, the first time the Lions coach will appear in Ireland with Wales since he controversially dropped Brian O’Driscoll for the final Test match in Australia in June.

Schoolchildren can get into the games for as little as €15, although again the price for the match against Wales rises to €20

Prices are roughly similar to two years ago when the same three teams visited Dublin. In 2012 a ticket for the Wales game was the same at €105 for a premium level seat while Scotland was priced higher at €90 and Italy lower at €75.

The schools tickets in 2012 were also marginally more expensive with the Wales match priced the same at €20 and Scotland also at €20 whereas the price of the school ticket for the game against Scotland in February is down to €15.

Marked rise
The category A1 tickets for 2014 are €90 for all three matches, which is a marked rise compared to the category one stand tickets of 2012, which were €75 for the Wales match, €65 for Scotland and €55 for Italy.

In 2012 the prices were reduced from 2011 and the IRFU introduced family packages, which were not listed in yesterday’s prices.

Tickets for the three games will be firstly distributed through the provincial branches via clubs. The visiting Unions will also receive an allocation of tickets which they will distribute directly to their supporters. Thereafter any remaining tickets will be sold through the Irish Rugby Supporters Club .
