The agm of the Irish Amateur Rowing Union (IARU) at Killarney on Saturday opted for continuity over change. The fixtures calendar adopted will mirror last year's, with the junior and senior championships on the same weekend, from July 16th to 18th. And a motion to move the venue from the somewhat remote Inniscara in Cork to Blessington in Wicklow, reflecting a rumbling discontent in some quarters, was also defeated. Indeed the work to develop Inniscara into an impressive National Rowing Centre also won approval.
There will be one change on the union's executive, with Gordon Reid of Lagan Scullers replacing Tony Dean as Ulster Branch representative.
