THE management committee of the FAI National League last night approved the recommendation that a Cork based consortium would take over the running of Cork City FC subject to court approval.

It means that Cork City will be able to complete their League and Cup fixtures for the rest of the season. However, their game against Drogheda United, which was scheduled to be played at United Park in Drogheda tomorrow, will have to be postponed until a later date.

From now on Cork City will play their home games at Turner's Cross, and their first game at that venue will be on Sunday February 4th (2.45) against St Patrick's Athletic.

The consortium have been negotiating with officers of the League for the past few days and approval was granted at a special meeting last night.
