ULSTER SFC QUARTER-FINALS: Crossmaglen Rangers 3-9 Belfast St Gall's 2-5:THE HALLOWEEN spark at Casement Park never took hold yesterday as Crossmaglen marched to victory. Manager Tony McEntee wasn't happy with the display even though the result was evident from the opening minutes of the second half as Cross rocketed in two goals within 90 seconds.
Cavan referee Joe McQuillan flashed 10 yellow cards and one red, for CJ McGourty of St Gall’s, one minute from time. Cross stormed into a 1-4 to 0-1 lead. The goal was knocked home by Jamie Clarke on 10 minutes and with points popping over, Cross led by 1-5 to 0-2 at half-time.
From the restart, Cross broke forward at speed and after a three-man defence-splitting move, Aaron Cunningham blasted to the St Gall’s net. Seconds later veteran Oisín McConville was hauled down for a penalty which he blasted home for a 3-5 to 0-2 lead.
Michael Pollock ghosted in for a goal and Karl Stewart added another to reduce the deficit but there was no way back for Gall’s.
