WEXFORD pipped Kilkenny in a keenly-contested Leinster under-21 hurling semi-final at Nowlan Park last night.proved the game's key score.
Wexford had the edge in the first half to lead by four points, 0-7 to 0- 3, at half-time. However, Kilkenny mounted a comeback in the early stages of the second half with senior panellists Ken O'Shea, with a goal, and Damien Cleere, with some well-struck frees, bringing them a point ahead before Purcell's all-important goal.
Senior star Paul Codd also played his part in Wexford's win, contributing six points of their total, four from frees and two 65s.
