Former Sligo Rovers centre half David Pugh is still making the headlines. As a soccer player he had a long and distinguished career in the League of Ireland during the 1970s and early '80s. Now it seems he is just as talented as a golfer. Playing off seven, he won the 14-hole singles stableford competition at Rosses Point on Sunday with a magnificent score of 37 points. An indication of just how good his score was is that the second-placed man, Tom Gavin, playing off 10, was eight points behind, on 29.
Pugh still a winner
