Coláiste na nDéise 1-13 St Flannan's 1-12: DESPITE PLAYING the entire game with 14 men, Coláiste na nDéise Thiar edged out the hurling bluebloods from Ennis.

Centrefielder Kieran Power was shown a straight red card by ref John O’Brien before the sliotar was thrown in, after an incident involving ’Flannan’s Martin O’Leary. But a 10-point haul from placed balls by Cathal Curran laid the bedrock for the Déise victory, while centre forward Michael Hurney bagged 1-1 from play.

His goal helped the Déise to a 1-7 to 0-7 interval lead. Stephen Ward’s second-half goal for St Flannan’s set up a tense finish but the west Waterford lads held on to book a semi-final place.
