Mark "The Scud" Philippoussis has such a powerful serve that one of his top-drawer aces would take just 72 days to reach the moon if it did not slow down, according to statisticians.
Philippoussis regularly exceeds 120 mph, far removed from the days of Austrian Hans Redl, who played Wimbledon from 1947 to 1956 despite losing an arm during World War two. Redl would serve by tossing the ball in the air using his racquet. Nothing there NASA would be interested in.
